Of all the social media networks, Pinterest is the platform that can give you the most insights into what’s new, hot, and trending—and for homeowners, it can be a great place to gather insight and inspiration on home decor, design, and decorating trends.

So, what’s trending on Pinterest in the world of interior design for 2021?

recent study from Budget Direct Home Insurance explored the most popular interior designers, styles, and trends on Pinterest. Some key findings include:

  • Joanna Gaines. HGTV star Joanna Gaines is, by far, the most pinned interior designer in the world, with 238,163 pins—nearly 70K more pins than Pinterest’s second most popular interior designer.
  • Vintage style. Pinterest users are all about vintage. Vintage interior design is the platform’s most pinned style, with nearly 2.7 million pins.
  • Modern, Country, and English style. Vintage may reign supreme on Pinterest—but plenty of other interior design styles are gaining traction. Modern, Country, and English interior design styles are also popular—each with about 1.7 million pins.

The world’s most-pinned interior designers

The most popular interiors guru on Pinterest is a household name in the US. Joanna Gaines is one-half of the wife and husband team who became reality TV home renovators as the stars of Fixer Upper. The show itself was a big influence and is credited with the boom in farmhouse chic throughout America’s interiors.

Of course, there are heaps of vintage images available to pin because the theme stretches back through history. But vintage arrangements also become Pinterest hits because a good find has its own story and character. The trick is to balance vintage pieces with each other – and Pinterest has plenty of examples of how to do just that.

The Takeaway:

So, what does this mean for you? Pinterest is a great way to gauge what’s currently trending. And knowing what’s trending in the world of interior design can give you the inspiration you need to make your home feel fresh, modern, and on-trend—which is a must if you’re thinking about selling
